Oldies programming consists of hits from the ’50s, ’60s and 7’0s although some oldies stations concentrate primarily on one decade. Rock ‘n’ roll, rhythm and blues, pop and adult contemporary music may all be broadcast within the oldies format. The average age of listeners is 35 to 64 years old, with about the same number of females as males. Several varieties of oldies programming exist including classic hits, adult hits, CHR ’80s, standards and big band, among others.
